Liverpool linked with Khedira move

Liverpool are lining up a summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira,.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is currently on the look-out for a replacement for outgoing captain Steven Gerrard, who will move to the MLS at the end of the season.

Gerrard has been at Anfield his entire career, but is ready to swap Merseyside for Los Angeles and team up with former teammate Robbie Keane at the Galaxy.

Both Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with a bid for former Stuttgart man Khedira, who has made just sixteen appearances in all competitions so far this season.

He moved to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2010, and has since won the league, the Spanish cup twice, the Champions League and the World Club Cup while internationally he wa…

Chiellini confident of Italy victory

Giorgio Chiellini has talked up Italy s chances of victory in the Euro 2012 final on Sunday, claiming that Spain are not invincible.

The Azzurri will face the reigning European and world champions in the tournament decider at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev after beating Germany in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Chiellini s side are considered the underdogs going into the clash, but the defender insists they will not be undertaking a revenge mission against La Roja, but rather the realisation of a dream.

They are also human and we can beat them, Chiellini said.

Tomorrow we will not go onto the pitch to take revenge against an opponent (referring to the Euro 2008 quarter-final loss), but to wrap up our dream.

The defender also brushed aside any conce…

´Alienated´ Enrique hints at Anfield exit

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has hinted he may have to leave Anfield after being  alienated by manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Spanish left-back joined the Merseysiders from Newcastle United in 2011 but has managed just 76 Premier League appearances due to a succession of injuries.

Liverpool signed Enrique s fellow Spaniard Alberto Moreno last year in an attempt to strengthen the backline but he started Sunday s opening Premier League game at Stoke City on the bench, with 17-year-old Joe Gomez a summer arrival from Charlton Athletic  preferred.

While Enrique is determined to prove his worth to Rodgers, he concedes he would be willing to listen to offers from elsewhere.

He told Marca: I am in a difficult position. Myself, [Mario] Balotelli and [Fabio…

The Giallorossi officials and new boss Zdenek Zeman are looking for ways to reinforce the squad following a very disappointing season.

Defensive reinforcements appear to be a priority and it seems Roma have already wrapped up a deal for Brazilian defender Dodo.

The 20-year-old announced via his Twitter account that he is set to sign for the Olimpico outfit.

“Tomorrow I will be in Italy. I’m going to Roma,” Dodo said.

Monaco keen on Soualiho Meite

that Monaco are hot on the trail of Lille midfielder Soualiho Meite.

The Principality club are bracing themselves for a barrage of offers for star footballer Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on the radar of top European sides.

And with the talented midfielder widely expected to leave in the summer, Monaco have been on the lookout for his replacement.

According to Le 10 Sport, Lille youngster Soualiho Meite has emerged as one of their primary targets after impressing during the loan spell with Zulte Waregem.

The 22-year-old had shown a great deal of potential since arriving from Auxerre in 2013, but he couldn’t secure first team football in Nord-Pas-de-Calais and decided to move to neighbouring Belgium.

That proved a very good career move as he has now…

Rodgers urges Celtic to dial down Barca respect

Brendan Rodgers believes showing Barcelona too much respect at Camp Nou was Celtic s downfall as they look to atone for a 7-0 thrashing when the sides meet at Parkhead on Wednesday.

Lionel Messi hit a hat-trick and Neymar and Andres Iniesta were among the goals before a late Luis Suarez brace sealed Celtic s record European defeat in September.

Rodgers Scottish Premiership leaders have performed with far more distinction since then, claiming a share of the spoils at home to Manchester City and away at Borussia Monchengladbach in Champions League Group C, but they are still looking for their first round-robin win after four matches.

Only an unlikely victory can preserve Celtic s hopes of remaining in the competition – a City win at Gladbach will eliminate them r…

AC Milan new boy Rebic targets derby goal after Inter interest

Ante Rebic set himself the target of a Derby della Madonnina goal against Inter after confirming his agent held talks with AC Milan s city rivals.

Croatia international Rebic moved to the Rossoneri in a deadline-day swap that saw Andre Silva head to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The winger could have been turning out for the opposition in next weekend s San Siro showdown had Inter s discussion with his representatives led to a deal.

But after sealing a two-season loan switch to Marco Giampaolo s side, Rebic made his loyalties clear.

I didn t speak to Inter, my agent had talks with them, but I don t know anything about it, the 25-year-old said at his presentation to the media on Friday.

Once I knew of Milan s interest I had no doubts. When I also asked my…

Embattled Pardew slams Krychowiak and awaits West Brom talks

West Brom head coach Alan Pardew will seek clarification over his future after a sapping 4-1 loss at home to Leicester City pushed his seemingly doomed side closer to relegation.

Albion drew first blood at The Hawthorns, but Jamie Vardy volleyed a superb equaliser to level matters midway though the first half.

Leicester ran amok afterwards, with Riyad Mahrez, substitute Kelechi Iheanacho and Vicente Iborra on target as the Premier League s bottom club meekly subsided during the final half hour.

Before you even ask me the question, will I speak to those upstairs? Yes I will. Of course I will because it s getting difficult, Pardew told reporters, with his team eight points from safety with eight games left.

My pride on the sidelines is such that I don t …

Suarez cool on Griezmann move

Luis Suarez added to the growing doubts over Antoine Griezmann s prospective move to Barcelona by declining to comment on the transfer reports, despite indicating he would back a swoop for Neymar.

Griezmann was thought to be bound for Camp Nou after announcing his decision to leave Atletico Madrid, but Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu claimed the Blaugrana have not spoken to the 28-year-old.

When asked about the prospect of lining up alongside Griezmann in 2019-20, Suarez referred back to comments he made in December 2017 when he described the World Cup-winning forward as an elite player , but stopped short of reiterating his support for a move.

Suarez told RAC1: What I have to say, as I said last year, is that he is a quality player.

But he …

Gilardino urges Cutrone to leave AC Milan

Patrick Cutrone should leave AC Milan in order to improve himself as a player, according to former San Siro striker Alberto Gilardino.

Italy Under-21s forward Cutrone, thought to be valued at €25million by Milan, scored for his country at the U21 European Championship against Belgium on Saturday, rekindling speculation about his future at club level.

The 21-year-old was the subject of interest from LaLiga and the Bundesliga in January, according to his agent, and Gilardino told Gazzetta dello Sport that he should seek more regular first-team opportunities elsewhere after making just 12 starts for Milan in 2018-19.

Asked whether he would advise Cutrone to leave, former Italy international Gilardino replied: Yes, because he would have more chances to play conti…
