We´re banishing painful Iceland memories – Dier

Eric Dier hopes England s dramatic World Cup penalty shoot-out win over Colombia on Tuesday has put them back in the nation s good books .

The Tottenham midfielder scored the decisive spot-kick to help Gareth Southgate s men set up a quarter-final clash with Sweden following a 1-1 draw in Moscow.

Dier was part of the side that crashed out of Euro 2016 after an embarrassing defeat to Iceland a result that led to the resignation of manager Roy Hodgson.

Southgate has transformed the fortunes of the Three Lions over the past two years and Dier knows the result against Colombia will have gone some way to erasing the painful memories of that Iceland humiliation.

Yesterday was a massive milestone for us as a group because we hadn t won a knockout game for so…

Atletico Madrid ramp up pursuit of Alex Grimaldo

La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid are said to be one of a host of Europe’s top clubs scouting Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo.

The 23-year-old full-back has been in superb form at Benfica this season which saw him gain plenty of admirers around Europe.

The likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Napoli and Inter Milan have all been linked with a move for Grimaldo whereas the Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo now claims that Atletico Madrid have stepped up the chase for his signature.

Identified as the ‘next Jordi Alba’ due to his versatility and overwhelming potential, Grimaldo could be the next big thing and is widely expected to leave the Lisbon-based club this summer.

Grimaldo joined the Portuguese heavyweights from Barcelona in 2016 in a €1.5…

After its PC launch last year, which drew mixed reactions from fans, Colossal Order’s Cities: Skylines 2 has been delayed again for Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Previously set for October (after a delay out of Spring), the developer revealed that it hadn’t yet met the “stability and performance targets” for the same.

A new release candidate will receive a “thorough review” this August, and based on the results, it will either start the process towards a release date or address further issues. It’s understandably holding back on further release pronouncements until then. The team is making “slow but steady” process, yFruit Slot Gameset “unresolve…

Sevilla complete Ganso deal

Sevilla have signed Brazil international Paulo Henrique Ganso from Sao Paulo for an undisclosed fee, the creative midfielder signing a five-year deal with the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan side.

Ganso came through the ranks of the Santos youth academy and featured alongside current Barcelona star Neymar at the Vita Beliro.

He was regarded as one of the biggest talents in Brazil but a knee injury halted his development. The attacking midfielder eventually left Santos for Sao Paulo in September 2012 and has now earned himself a move to Europe.

David Moyes urges West Ham to finish the job and top Group A

David Moyes wants West Ham to finish the job off and top their Europa League group.

Tomas Soucek struck late on yet again as the Hammers secured their passage into the knock-out stages with a 1-0 win against Backa Topola in Serbia.

Now they need to avoid defeat to Freiburg at the London Stadium in a fortnight to ensure they top Group A and avoid a two-legged play-off in February.

“We’re thrilled at West Ham that we’re going to play in Europe after Christmas time for the third season,” Hammers boss Moyes said at his post-match press conference.

“Even playing Freiburg in the last game to win the group is hugely important. But I’d have taken this at the start of the season, if you’d s…

Hell Clasico for Real Madrid on Xavi´s big night as Aubameyang lifts Barca to famous win

The last time Barcelona beat Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, the home side sacked their coach nine days later.

No wonder Carlo Ancelotti was shuffling uncomfortably on the touchline when Ferran Torres rammed in Barcelona s third goal of Sunday s bizarre Clasico rout.

Florentino Perez will surely not be speed-dialling Zinedine Zidane this time – it was the Frenchman who replaced Santiago Solari soon after Barcelona s 1-0 win at this stadium on March 2, 2019.

But if Madrid s Clasico car crash was an early signal of the future dynamic between these teams, then godspeed Don Carlo. Four-nil in the end, and Madrid were lucky to get nil.

Madrid will surely win LaLiga this season, and they might even add the Champions League title, but they did not let …

Simeone optimistic despite another frustrating draw

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone took the positives from his side s performance in a 1-1 draw at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

It marked Atleti s third draw in LaLiga this season, with Simeone s side six points back from leaders Barcelona.

Atleti earned a point at Vallecas Stadium thanks to Conor Gallagher s strike after the break following a sloppy first half in which Isi Palazon had put the hosts ahead.

Next up for Atleti is a derby clash with second-place Real Madrid, and Simeone remained optimistic despite his team s indifferent form.

In the first half we had more scoring situations than gameplay. Then we saw intensity, involvement, a lot of people in the opposition s half, attacking in different ways, Simeone told reporters.
