Market: Middlesbrough win
Odds: 8/11 @
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Championship table, a high-flying Middlesbrough will make the trip to Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, managing to claim a much-needed boost when heading into the international break, Huddersfield will be desperate to find a similar display on Saturday afternoon. Eventually snatching a shock 1-0 victory away at play-off contenders Millwall, the Terriers know that they must find some crucial stability over the coming months. Marking their return to action this weekend sat three points adrift in the drop zone, Neil Warnock knows that he has quite the job on his hands in Yorkshire. Mustering just a pair of victories from any of their last 15 straight appearances across all competitions, Huddersfield have also gained a reputation for their extended struggles on home soil. Including what was a dreadful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Coventry on March 4th, it should be noted that Warnock’s side have claimed just one win at the John Smith’s Stadium since opening 2023.
As for the visitors, heading into the international break with another stellar display as they claimed a 4-0 romp at home against Preston, Middlesbrough are in the midst of what has become a remarkable purple patch under Michael Carrick. Skyrocketing their way up the Championship table and only continuing to gain a string of plaudits, the one-time Manchester United coach is desperate to lead Boro towards a famous Premier League return. Sat just three points adrift of breaking into the automatic promotion spots, Saturday’s guests have lost just one of their last 10 straight appearances against Championship opposition. With that run stemming all the way back to January 22nd, Carrick’s high-flying squad will be looking to make another second-tier statement in Yorkshire. Picking up a 2-1 win in their last trip to the John Smith’s Stadium back in November 2021, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
