Isla confirms QPR switch

Mauricio Isla has revealed that he has completed his move from Juventus to Premier League new boys QPR.

Juve general manager Giuseppe Marotta revealed on Saturday that the Chile international was set for a switch to Loftus Road.

Neither club have confirmed the deal, but the 26-year-old full-back stated on Twitter on Tuesday that he had finalised his transfer to the London club.

He tweeted: A new challenge in my career begins.

I am pleased to be a new QPR player.”

Isla has been with Italian champions Juve for the last two seasons having moved from Serie A rivals Udinese in June 2012.

QPR are also reported to be on the verge of signing Jordon Mutch from Cardiff City as they prepare for their return to the top flight.

Harry Wilson double gives Wales win over Croatia to boost qualification hopes

Harry Wilson celebrated his 50th cap with a brilliant double as Wales boosted their Euro 2024 automatic qualification hopes with a 2-1 win over Croatia in Cardiff.

Wilson rewarded an excellent home performance with two clinical second-half strikes, enough to stave off a late Croatia rally that saw Mario Pasalic convert 15 minutes from time.

Wales came into the contest knowing victories in their final three group games were probably necessary to secure a top-two place and avoid the play-offs in March.

On this day exactly years ago, a boy from Corwen made his Cymru debut.

Tonight, on his 50th cap, he kept our dreams alive

De Ligt: Nagelsmann sacking ´hard to swallow´

Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt was surprised by the club s decision to part company with head coach Julian Nagelsmann and says it has been hard to swallow .

German heavyweights Bayern officially called time on Nagelsmann s 20-month reign on Friday and swiftly appointed Thomas Tuchel as his successor.

Nagelsmann won the Bundesliga in his only full season in Bavaria, but Bayern find themselves a point behind Borussia Dortmund with 25 games of this campaign played.

Bayern face leaders Dortmund in a huge clash on Saturday, while they also have DFB-Pokal and Champions League quarter-final ties to play in April.

And with the club still in the hunt for a treble, De Ligt – who has been away on international duty with the Netherlands – did not see Nag…

Klopp expects Liverpool rebuild after extending contract

Jurgen Klopp expects to have to embark on a rebuilding process at Liverpool after extending his contract to 2024.

Klopp signed a contract renewal last week ahead of attempting to lead the Reds to Club World Cup glory in Qatar.

Saturday s final against Flamengo offers Liverpool the chance to secure the first of a possible five trophies this season, with Klopp s side – who won the UEFA Super Cup in August – 10 points clear in the Premier League and through to the last 16 of the Champions League, where they will face Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool do not have an old squad – Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and James Milner are their only regulars aged 30 or over – but Klopp feels freshening up his options will be vital in the years to come.

The signing of 24-y…

Wilshere will do great things for Bournemouth – Howe

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes Jack Wilshere will do great things for the club after making his debut in the 1-0 victory over West Brom at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Howe opted to start Wilshere on the bench and introduce him after 63 minutes when the game was still goalless, admitting only the Arsenal loanee s fitness prevented him from starting.

A deft finish from Callum Wilson in the 79th minute gave Bournemouth a deserved first victory of the Premier League campaign, and the England international s influence from the bench made a mark on the manager.

We were very close to picking Jack Wilshere, but he made a real impact when he came on, Howe told BBC Sport.

I was just concerned at his ability to play as long as we needed …

Highly rated AS Monaco defender Kamil Glik has emerged as a transfer target for a number of Serie A clubs, it is being reported by the French media.

France Football has it that Torino, Lazio and Sampdoria are keeping close tabs on the powerful 30-year-old centre back who had already played in Italy for Palermo, Bari and Torino, respectively, before moving to France in 2016.

Glik is contracted to AS Monaco until 2021 but could end up leaving the Principality club if they fail to clinch the Champions League spot.

A place in Europe’s elite competition is what Lazio want to use to lure Glik over to Rome, whereas Torino will have a say in this race with a three-year deal and a coaching role offer once he decided to hang up his boots.

A move to Sampdoria is …

Liverpool in for Illarramendi

that Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi has emerged as a £15m target for Liverpool.

The 25 year old moved to the Bernabeu from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2013, and has started under a third of the league games under Carlo Ancelotti in that time.

He was part of the squad that won the Champions League just over twelve months ago, though he was an unused substitute in the final victory over Atletico Madrid in Benfica.

The Spanish U21 international scored three goals in his debut campaign for Real, but failed to hit the net at all last season, and with a number of big name internationals ahead of him in the pecking order could be set for a move overseas.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has already been busy in the transfer market as he look…

Buoyant Pardew bullish after Newcastle triumph

Alan Pardew defiantly declared I do know what I m doing after Newcastle United s League Cup fourth-round win at Manchester City.

Pardew s place at the helm of Newcastle was under major scrutiny early in the campaign, with the club languishing bottom of the Premier League.

That prompted protests in the stands as supporters called for the former West Ham United and Southampton boss to be sacked.

However, those days seemed a distant memory on Wednesday night as Pardew s men secured a third successive win in all competitions.

This was perhaps their most impressive, with an XI missing some of Newcastle s key players overcoming a strong City side thanks to goals from Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko.

Pardew told BBC Sport: I do know what I m doing. I t…
