NFL Week 8 Weather and Odds: Forecasts Calling for Potential Snow Game?

It will be a windy, rainy, hot and sticky, and possibly snowy Halloween Weekend across the NFL… with several matchups on the Week 8 odds board impacted by the elements.

While it’s just Tuesday, I get ahead of the extended forecast and highlight how the potential gameday weather will alter the results and how to bet the NFL odds accordingly before making any NFL picks.

We look to the skies of the NFL Week 8 Weather Report.

Rams vs Lions Odds, Picks, and Wild Card Predictions: Kupp & Co. Pile on the Points

The Detroit Lions are set to host their first playoff game in *checks almanac* 30 years as they welcome the Los Angeles Rams to Ford Field tonight, kicking off their road to Super Bowl LVIII.

This is an intriguing matchup between a pair of teams that swapped starting quarterbacks three years ago. And even though former Lions play-caller Matthew Stafford led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl in 2022, counterpart Jared Goff sparked Detroit to a long-awaited NFC North title this season.

NFL odds have the Lions as 3-point favorites, and the O/U of 51.5 is the highest total of all the Wild Card odds. Here are my best free NFL picks and predictions for the Rams vs. Lions on Sunday, January 14.

Chiefs vs Falcons Picks & Predictions for SNF: Dome is Where Mahomes Rules

It’s Patrick Mahomes indoors in prime time. How can you not be excited for Sunday Night Football?

The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off dispatching the Bengals in Week 2 and travel to Atlanta as 3-point favorites to take on Kirk Cousins and the Falcons, who are also coming off a big comeback win in Week 2. It’s back-to-back weeks of Cousins under the lights!

With the Chiefs’ running game in flux thanks to the Isiah Pacheco injury, Mahomes could be airing it out a lot indoors. That has me reaching for any props tied to the visitor’s passing game.

It’s going to be a big night for the MVP frontrunner, and I dig deeper into Mahomes’ passing output in my Chiefs vs. Falcons predictions and NFL picks for September 22.

Watford’s Hayden Mullins takes advice from Guardiola for survival showdown

Hayden Mullins has revealed he received uplifting advice from Pep Guardiola after Watford’s defeat by Manchester City on Tuesday, a result that has left them clinging on for survival before the final day of the Premier League season.

Watford travel to Arsenal on Sunday knowing they must outdo Aston Villa’s performance at West Ham to stand a chance of escaping relegation. It has been a harsh baptism for Mullins, who is the club’s lead under-23 coach but was plunged into a caretaker role with the seniors for the second time this season after Nigel Pearson’s dismissal last weekend.

Fans’ ugly behaviour is not just about football – it’s about society

Roker Park, the final game of 1989-90. Sunderland were sure of their place in the playoffs; Oldham knew they would miss out, largely because of the strains of an extraordinary season in which they had reached the League Cup final and the FA Cup semi-finals. Oldham won 3-2 and, as the final whistle went, home fans invaded the pitch.

Slowly they made for the corner of the Roker End where the away fans were housed. I was on the terrace a few yards away and remember clearly the sense of sudden anxiety as my dad gripped my arm and started to make for the exit. But then something remarkable happened. The invaders stopped a few yards from the corner flag, raised their hands above their heads and clapped, a salute for Oldham’s extraordinary season…

Chelsea’s league-high 56 bookings not down to indiscipline, claims Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has denied Chelsea have a discipline problem despite racking up the most yellow cards in the Premier League and having Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer suspended for Wednesday’s match at home to Crystal Palace.

The pair were among six Chelsea players cautioned at Wolves on Christmas Eve as the team lost a fourth successive away game in the Premier League and were beaten for the 19th time in 2023, the most defeats in the English top flight.

Macklin Celebrini likely first, intrigue next at 2024 NHL Draft

Depending on which team executive is speaking, the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas really doesn't begin until the second overall pick, or maybe even the fourth. That's how bunched the talent pool gets after the first pick, which likely will be Boston University center Macklin Celebrini getting selected by the San Jose Sharks. "Even though the players are quite distinct from each other, the values are very similar," Anaheim Ducks assistant general manager Martin Madden said of the players behind Celebrini. "It's going to be an interesting first round." Celebrini, a Vancouver native, is said to possess the type of skill, instinct and determination that easily could have made him the No. 2 overall pick last year behind Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard…

If You're A Small, Rich Country, You Can Buy An Olympic Medal

After Ruth Jebet won the 3000-meter steeplechase yesterday, she stood on the top step above fellow Kenya native Hyvin Jepkemoi, received her gold medal from another Kenyan, Paul Tergat, then turned to watch the Bahraini flag ascend to the top of the flagpole. The 19-year-old Jebet was born in Kenya, but she began running internationally for Bahrain in 2013. She earned the tiny gulf nation’s first gold medal the same day that Eunice Kirwa, another runner from Kenya, won them their first silver. Bahrain has a total of three Olympic medals, all earned by East African runners who switched their nationalities to compete for Bahrain. Athletes competing for nations has been around as long as Games themselves. Even in the ancient Olympics, athletes would occasionally compete for rival city-st…

Why Your Team Sucks 2019: Minnesota Vikings

Some people are fans of the Minnesota Vikings. But many, many more people are NOT fans of the Minnesota Vikings. This 2019 Deadspin NFL team preview is for those in the latter group. Read all the previews so far here. Your team: Minnesota Vikings. JUGGERNAUT Your 2018 record: 8-7-1. This team had Super Bowl aspirations after GM Rick Spielman, who looks like a televangelist who does vanity HGH treatments, neatly rounded out a roster that had already gone to the NFC title game the year prior (although what happened in that game and its final score escape my memory). He broke the contract mold for QB Kirk Cousins. He got a bargain deal on Sheldon Richardson. He drafted Mike Hughes to spruce up an already loaded secondary. He hired John DeFilippo, fresh off an Eagles Super Bowl win, to ca…

Small-Time Bookies: The 2016 NFL Season Was Not Kind To Us

Overall—and I’ll spare you the details—my football gambling track record isn’t pretty, so when I ended the 2016 regular season well in the black, I knew something was off. And after reaching out to a bookie on the West Coast, my suspicions were confirmed. No, I had not finally cracked the football gambling code. My winnings were simply part of a larger trend. “Usually around 10 percent of the guys finish up on the year,” the bookie said. “This year, it was probably 22 percent.” Local bookies aren’t the most sympathetic figures; it’s hard to feel sorry for a guy whose business model is contingent on fathers drunkenly betting the family’s Christmas fund on the Cleveland Browns. (“Sorry, sweetie, Santa must have run out of Shopkins. Maybe next year.”) Still, du…
